Cosmos stars observatory
Close to the lovely town of Ootmarsum, at one of the most beautiful spots of Twente, is Cosmos observatory Lattrop. The observatory has various exhibition rooms, a big screening room, a fantastic planetarium, and the biggest telescope in the Netherlands. A wonderful way to find out everything you want to know about the universe. And that’s not all, because next to the observatory is the beautiful Garden of the Starts and a playground.
After having looked at the stars for a while, the small Dinkel River, which flows along the observatory, is a good place to be. A visit to the observatory is therefore an unforgettable experience for both young and old. Each year, 15,000 guests visit the observatory.
Nightly visit of the observatory
It is also possible to visit the observatory at night. During special events such as a solar eclipse, lunar eclipse, a comet that passes earth, or another ‘heavenly’ occurrence, the observatory will, in many cases, be open at night. Should such an event take place while you are staying in Denekamp, then experience it all from close by, by means of the huge telescope of the Lattrop observatory. This will make it a truly unforgettable ‘heavenly’ experience.
Want to visit?
You can do so during opening hours. Groups and school classes are also welcome outside opening hours, but make sure to make an appointment in advance for that.
